Even if the model was expanded to include teams from multiple

conferences, a decision would have to be made as to whether it is sport specific or for all sports.

If the model is sport specific, then the membership could fluctuate depending on the sport. However, it would mean that some schools and their fans would find themselves included for certain sports and excluded for others. If it is for all sports, then the number of members could grow significantly in order to ensure the group has enough participating teams for all sports or keep the number small and require everyone to potentially add a whole bunch of sports even though the school and its fan base has no interest in sponsoring them. Another potential byproduct is that the conferences, as we know them today, may cease to exist so the schools can re-organize into new conferences. If you look how the pro leagues are structured, they are divided into 2 conferences (AFC vs. NFC, East vs. West, AL vs. NL, etc.). If the schools insist on maintaining multiple conferences under this model, then it could lead to some logistical issues.
